Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has called on protesters to voice their aspirations peacefully and refrain from damaging public facilities during a student demonstration at the Bundaran HI in Central Jakarta. “In a democratic country, expressing opinions and holding rallies is guaranteed by law. As a former activist, I deeply respect and appreciate that. Now, as Governor of Jakarta, I sincerely hope and request that aspirations be conveyed in the best possible manner,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Friday (12/6/2026). “Most importantly, do not damage, disturb, or harm public facilities,” he added. Pramono stressed that everyone loses when public facilities are vandalised, and reminded protesters not to intentionally destroy them. “Because if public facilities are damaged, it is the public themselves who suffer. Once again, we, I as Governor of Jakarta, hope that opinions are expressed properly without any destruction of public facilities,” he said. Separately, Pramono recently launched the Transjabodetabek Blok M-Soekarno-Hatta Airport (SH2) route. For the first three months, the fare has been set at Rp 3,500 per trip. “The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has decided that for three months, in conjunction with welcoming Eid al-Fitr, we will keep the fare at Rp 3,500,” Pramono stated at Blok M Terminal, South Jakarta, on Thursday (12/3). He noted that after the trial period, the administration would evaluate the fare, as the subsidy for the route is substantial and a price adjustment is likely.
