Governor Pramono Orders Dishub to Resolve Parking Issues in Blok M

Governor Pramono Anung has ordered the Dinas Perhubungan (Dishub) to address the problem of illegal parking in Blok M, South Jakarta, where illegal parking attendants still operate. He said he has given a special assignment to Budi Awaluddin to handle the issue, as he will effectively assume the role of Kadishub from 1 June 2026. ‘This is the new Kadishub’s task in front of you all (Budi Awaluddin). One of his main duties is to resolve the illegal parking problem in Blok M,’ he said in the Kebayoran Baru area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday 19 May 2026. Previously, the Special Committee (Pansus) on Parking Management of the Jakarta Provincial DPRD conducted a sudden inspection at Blok M Square, South Jakarta, on Monday 11 May 2026. During the inspection, authorities sealed parking facilities and infrastructure run by operator Best Parking due to suspected illegality. Yustinus Prastowo, Deputy Coordinator for the Governor’s Special Staff, said he supported the crackdown by the Jakarta Provincial DPRD. After the sealing, his team immediately coordinated internally to trace suspected illegal parking practices at Blok M Square. ‘Now Dishub and Bapenda are conducting in-depth investigations because this relates to licensing and parking tax collection aspects,’ he said at City Hall, Jakarta on Tuesday 12 May 2026. He could not yet confirm whether Best Parking’s management was illegal, as checks are still required. Nevertheless, Prastowo said the Jakarta Provincial Government would not tolerate illegal parking practices, noting that such practices harm the public and the province. ‘In principle, the provincial government will not tolerate anything related to illegal parking activities,’ he said.
