Governor Pramono Offers Condolences After Student Dies in Cable-Related Accident
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo has conveyed his condolences over the death of a student from SMAN 6 Jakarta, identified by the initials NAEP (16), who died after falling from a motorcycle that got caught on a cable and was then run over by a bus in the South Jakarta area on Thursday (18/6).
“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. A student named Neisha Amalia Evrian Putri, 16 years old, a 10th-grade student at SMA 6 Jakarta, indeed died yesterday while riding pillion when the motorcycle got caught on a cable on Jalan Losari, South Jakarta,” Pramono said in Central Jakarta on Friday.
He stated that he has ordered several relevant agencies to provide full assistance to the victim’s family, from support services to the funeral process. “I have instructed the Transportation Agency, the Education Agency, Bina Marga, and others to assist fully, including with yesterday’s funeral,” Pramono said.
Additionally, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, through Baznas Bazis DKI Jakarta, has provided compensation to the family. “Yesterday, we sent three buses so students could accompany the deceased to the burial, and we also covered the costs for that,” Pramono revealed.
He explained that, based on the information he received, the cable that caused the tragic incident was a severed PLN cable. Regarding the legal process for the incident, Pramono is leaving it entirely to law enforcement and the victim’s family. According to him, the family has requested that the case be processed according to the applicable regulations. “Because this family understands the law, the grandmother also requested it. As this matter has now entered a private domain, we will allow it,” Pramono said.
“The incident occurred in the morning, around 5.30 a.m. Western Indonesia Time. A motorcycle carrying two people was passing along Jalan Lauser. They happened to live in the Ciledug area and were taking the child to school,” said Kebayoran Baru Sub-district Head Rachmat Mulyadi on Thursday (18/6). He stated that the accident happened when the motorcycle carrying the victim passed the location on Jalan Lauser, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. However, the motorcycle’s handlebars allegedly got caught on a cable that was hanging across and protruding into the road, causing the vehicle to wobble and its riders to fall. “When passing Jalan Lauser, right in front of the park, there was a cable hanging across, protruding slightly into the road, so the motorcycle’s handlebars got caught, causing it to wobble and then fall, and during that fall, the pillion passenger died,” Rachmat explained.
