Governor Pramono Invites Lawsuit Over Child's Death in DKI Project Hole

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that the family of a four-year-old boy who died after falling into a project hole in Tebet, South Jakarta, is welcome to pursue legal action against the Jakarta Provincial Government. The governor expressed his deep condolences over the incident, which occurred on Sunday (28/6/2026). The child, identified by the initial I, was reported to have died en route to hospital after being rescued by officers.

Pramono confirmed that the location of the incident was a park construction project initiated by the Jakarta Provincial Government, funded through corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes. He said the project site had been properly secured with zinc sheeting to prevent public access. The incident occurred when the child accompanied his mother, who was trading in the Manggarai area until Saturday night (27/6/2026). The child is believed to have entered the closed-off area and fallen into a hole intended for concrete casting.

‘We are fully responsible. If the family wishes to take legal action, we are ready to face it,’ Pramono said in the Kota Tua area on Monday (29/6/2026). He added that the Jakarta Provincial Government has provided full support to the family, including handling the funeral arrangements.
