Governor Pramono Explains Seizure of Ojol Motorcycle by Jakarta Transport Agency

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has spoken out regarding the case of an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver whose vehicle was seized by the Transportation Agency (Dishub). He stated the issue was resolved immediately by officers on the ground at the time of the incident.

He explained the event occurred when provincial Dishub officers were conducting an operation against vehicles parked illegally on pavements in Jatinegara, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (17/6/2026). The ojol driver’s motorcycle was caught up in the enforcement action.

“At the time of the incident, the ojol driver was actually present with the enforcement team. The driver signed a document, admitting the mistake,” Pramono said in the Rasuna Said area, South Jakarta, on Sunday (21/6/2026).

However, a video of the driver pleading with officers to lower his motorcycle from the transport vehicle went viral on social media. In response, the East Jakarta Sub-department of Transportation visited the driver at his residence.

Pramono confirmed that no fees were charged in the case and the motorcycle was returned without any cost. Nevertheless, he cautioned against similar incidents occurring in the future. “Hopefully, such incidents will not happen again,” he said.
