Governor Pramono Clarifies DPR's Stairless JPO Was Built by PUPR Ministry

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has clarified the status of a pedestrian bridge (JPO) in front of the DPR building in Senayan that lacks stair access, stating it was originally built by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR). “The JPO in Senayan was originally built by the Ministry of PUPR,” Pramono said during a press briefing at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday.

Despite the bridge being constructed by the ministry, Pramono stressed that the Jakarta provincial government remains committed to maintaining all pedestrian bridges that are still needed by the public. He described this as part of the regional government’s responsibility to provide proper public facilities.

However, Pramono also revealed plans to evaluate the existence of pedestrian bridges across the capital. The Jakarta administration intends to remove or dismantle bridges that are no longer functional or required by residents. “If they are no longer in use, especially those built by the Jakarta administration, we will certainly dismantle them,” he said.

He cited the example of a pedestrian bridge on Jalan HR Rasuna Said that had drawn public attention. The decision to dismantle that bridge was made after Pramono conducted a direct field inspection and found it was no longer effective.
