Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has admitted to a passion for sports, particularly running 10 kilometres every week, to maintain his physical and mental health amidst the demanding task of leading the capital. “For running, I definitely do 10 kilometres every week. I also participated in the Jakarta International Marathon recently for the 10K. And every week I definitely try to move so that my mind stays healthy, because Jakarta is so complex,” Pramono said at City Hall on Friday. Besides running, he also still cycles regularly every Saturday. He usually covers a minimum distance of 60 kilometres using a road bike. Pramono even claimed he could still compete in a cycling race against civil servants within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. “At my age, I dare to bet in this room that I would win a cycling race. Because every Saturday I still do a minimum of 60 kilometres,” he said. Amidst his passion for sports, Pramono also affirmed his support for sports development in Jakarta. He hopes the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of DKI Jakarta can lead the capital’s contingent to become the overall champion at the 2028 National Games (PON). He assessed that Jakarta has complete sports facilities and a good athlete development system, making the target of becoming overall champion not impossible to achieve. “I really hope the overall championship is a decisive one,” Pramono said.
