Governor of Central Java Ensures Medical Assistance for Train Accident Victims in Semarang

Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi has expressed his deepest condolences following a fatal accident at a railway crossing on Jalan Kokrosono, Semarang, on Monday. The incident, which occurred as children were heading to school at the start of the new academic year, resulted in the death of a 9-year-old and left two others seriously injured. “On behalf of the Central Java Provincial Government and all ranks, I offer my deepest condolences,” Luthfi said. The accident happened when a Honda Supra motorcycle carrying three people was struck by a freight train travelling from west to east. The deceased victim, a resident of Kaliasin, North Semarang, was identified by the initials HRA (9), while the two injured victims, ZIA (12) and Rujito (45), are receiving medical treatment at Dr Kariadi General Hospital. Governor Luthfi confirmed that the provincial government will provide full assistance for the victims’ care. “I have ordered the hospital to provide full assistance. The Health Office will coordinate to ease the family’s suffering,” he stated. According to police reports, the crossing guard had already closed the barrier and issued warnings, but the motorcyclist continued to cross the tracks. The train struck the rear of the motorcycle, throwing the vehicle and its riders. Luthfi used the incident to call for greater public discipline at railway crossings, reminding citizens not to proceed when warnings are active. “If there are signs from the officers, especially a warning siren, even if the barrier hasn’t fully lowered, you must stop,” he said, adding that the speed and distance of trains are difficult for road users to estimate.
