Papua Highlands Governor John Tabo has stated that in November 2026, a tender will be held for the core government centre (KIPP) project in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency.

“We were promised some time ago by the central government that the tender would be held in July, but the information is that it has been postponed to November 2026,” he said in Wamena on Thursday.

“We in the region are not given the authority to manage the construction funds for the Papua Highlands KIPP; everything is handled centrally, including the appointment of which company will carry out the work,” he said.

He explained that the location for the Papua Highlands KIPP construction has been determined at the Biology Garden of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) on Mount Susu, Hubikosi District, Jayawijaya Regency.

“We have already determined the location, and some time ago the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas came and saw for themselves the site where the governor’s office, the Regional House of Representatives (DPR) and the Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP) of Papua Highlands will be built,” he said.

He added that the construction of the Papua Highlands KIPP will use the state budget (APBN), not the Papua Highlands regional budget (APBD).

“In short, we in the region will only receive the keys to the buildings that will be constructed by the central government using the APBN. Civil servants and the public are waiting, so it depends on when the central government, through the relevant technical ministries, will build the Papua Highlands KIPP,” he said.
