Governor Meets the Home Affairs Ministry to Discuss Strengthening Financial Management

West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan met with Agus Fatoni, Director General of Regional Financial Management at the Home Affairs Ministry (Kemendagri), to strengthen coordination in improving the quality of local financial management that is transparent, orderly, and accountable.

The meeting, held in Jakarta on Thursday, is part of West Papua Provincial Government’s efforts to strengthen synergy with the central government in enhancing effective and efficient regional financial governance.

In a press release, he stated the provincial government’s commitment to continue improving the quality of regional planning and budgeting, strengthening the discipline of budget execution, and optimising the utilisation of regional expenditure to be more oriented toward improving public services and accelerating development.

The provincial government needs support in coaching and technical assistance from Kemendagri to improve the capacity of regional financial management officers, strengthen oversight and internal control systems, and optimise management of regional revenue to promote West Papua’s fiscal independence.

In response, Agus Fatoni, Director General of Regional Financial Management at Kemendagri, expressed support for the West Papua Provincial Government’s steps to strengthen local financial governance.

He said Kemendagri will continue to provide coaching, technical assistance, and policy strengthening so that regional financial management complies with the governing laws and regulations.

The meeting is expected to strengthen coordination between the central government and the West Papua Provincial Government in realising accountable regional financial management while also promoting accelerated development and improved welfare for the people.
