The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has realised the free private school programme as a concrete step to expand educational access for the community. This year, in accordance with the Governor’s Decree of DKI Jakarta Number 312 of 2025, 103 private schools are included in the programme with a total budget allocation of Rp 253,625,139,600. Forty continuing private schools will receive funding for 12 months, from January to December 2026. Meanwhile, 63 new recipient private schools will receive funding for 6 months, from July to December 2026. The free private school programme covers levels from primary school, junior secondary school, senior secondary school/vocational school, to special schools, spread across Jakarta’s five administrative city areas. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that this policy is a manifestation of the Provincial Government’s seriousness in ensuring that Jakarta’s children continue to receive decent education, including for families with economic limitations. “Jakarta is seriously beginning to allocate a budget for free private schools. Hopefully, what the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is doing can break the chain of misfortune in underprivileged families,” he said on Saturday (25/4/2026). In addition to the free private school programme, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government ensures that various other educational assistance programmes continue, such as the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP), Jakarta Outstanding Student Card (KJMU), and the transcript clearance programme. Governor Pramono conveyed congratulations to all beneficiaries, both the schools and the programme’s educational aid participants. He hopes that these various policies will become the initial foundation for the birth of a more advanced generation of Jakarta through inclusive, comprehensive, and quality educational access.
