SEMARANG — Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi wants meatball vendors across Central Java to have halal certification. According to records from the United Nusantara Noodle and Meatball Traders Association (Apmiso), there are around 17,500 meatball vendors in Central Java.

“Meatball vendors in Central Java are the largest group of micro-economy actors,” said Luthfi while attending the silaturahmi and halal bihalal event of Apmiso Central Java at Wisma Perdamaian in Semarang on Friday (17/4/2026).

According to him, assistance for meatball vendors in Central Java needs to be provided. For example, in meat processing to obtaining halal certification.

Luthfi assessed that halal certification is necessary so that business actors are more organised, have standards, and can develop further. “Halal certification is not easy, starting from equipment and so on, meaning our agencies must participate, so that our meatball sellers have certification,” he stated.

According to Luthfi, the meatball business is one of the people’s businesses that remains resilient amid various economic conditions. He believes that meatball vendors provide real contributions to strengthening the micro-economy in Central Java.

“I am very pleased today to be in the midst of fellow meatball sellers who will indirectly contribute to the micro-economy in Central Java,” said Luthfi.
