Governor: Lampung Free Nutritious Meals Programme Reaches 2.7 Million Beneficiaries
Bandarlampung (ANTARA) - Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal has said that the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) in the province has reached 2.7 million beneficiaries across the region.
“I can report that Lampung Province has today become the fastest province with the highest percentage in fulfilling Free Nutritious Meals kitchen procurement. Our ratio is already above 100 per cent of the target,” said Rahmat Mirzani Djausal in a statement in Bandarlampung on Monday.
He said that with this achievement, Lampung has become the fastest province with the highest percentage in fulfilling the infrastructure requirements of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme.
“The Free Nutritious Meals Programme in Lampung currently targets approximately 2.7 million beneficiaries,” he said.
He explained that the programme’s beneficiaries range from kindergarten to secondary school pupils, Islamic boarding school students, toddlers, and pregnant women.
“The availability of raw materials is assured, because Lampung is a food surplus region. Lampung’s food sources are extraordinary — chicken is in surplus, eggs are in surplus, rice and vegetables are also in surplus. There is no question of food shortages,” he said.
He noted that despite this, the nutritional quality of food in the programme must be balanced with taste and creativity in food presentation. Training is therefore being conducted to improve both the quality and taste of the food served.
“Children sometimes put nutrition second — taste comes first. If it doesn’t taste good, they won’t eat it. I want them to finish school with the memory that MBG food was delicious and something to be proud of,” he added.
According to him, training to improve the quality standards of MBG kitchen management has become a space for learning, sharing inspiration, and simultaneously strengthening the network of culinary business operators in Lampung as part of bolstering the region’s creative economy.
Previously, Lampung Province had established 1,007 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) with a reach of 2.7 million beneficiaries.
