Governor Khofifah urges entrepreneurs to pay festive allowance by H-7 Eid
Surabaya — Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa has called upon all entrepreneurs in her jurisdiction to disburse the Eid Religious Allowance (THR — Tunjangan Hari Raya Keagamaan) to workers or labourers no later than seven days before Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH.
“We are now in Ramadan, and Eid al-Fitr is approaching soon. I am urging all entrepreneurs in East Java to ensure that workers’ THR is paid no later than seven days before Eid,” Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa said in Surabaya on Friday.
Khofifah underscored that the Eid Religious Allowance is a worker’s right that employers are legally obliged to fulfil in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The payment of THR, she continued, is not merely a normative obligation but also part of protecting and improving worker welfare. “The THR represents an employer’s obligation to fulfil one aspect of worker welfare and protection, which is also expected to boost worker performance and productivity,” she said.
According to her, the Eid al-Fitr period traditionally sees increased household expenses, making timely THR payment crucial in helping workers meet their needs during Ramadan and for celebrating Eid. “Eid is a time for sharing joy, and household expenses tend to be significantly higher than usual,” she noted.
Khofifah expressed hope that all entrepreneurs will comply with timely THR payment requirements, thereby creating harmonious and conducive industrial relations in East Java. She is optimistic that timely THR disbursement will stimulate economic circulation and boost consumer purchasing power ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH.
“Entrepreneurs must share happiness with their workers, and I am confident that this THR will also positively impact public purchasing power as we approach Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH,” she said.
