East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa has introduced a pro-people policy in welcoming Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah: a special gift comprising free public transport services on Trans Jatim for two days, namely 21–22 March 2026.

The policy applies to all Trans Jatim service corridors in the Gerbangkertasusila and Malang Raya regions, except for Trans Jatim Luxury services.

Governor Khofifah emphasised that the policy represents the East Java Provincial Government’s commitment to facilitating public mobility, particularly during the Eid season, which is traditionally associated with increased social visits and family gatherings.

“We wish to bring Eid joy that can be felt directly by the public. One way is through safe, comfortable, and free public transport services,” said Khofifah.

According to her, the fare waiver applies on Eid Day and Eid Day +1 as a stimulus to support the mobility of those visiting family and relatives.

“This is a stimulus so that people can move more easily during Eid, especially to visit family and relatives,” she added.

Beyond the fare exemption, the East Java Provincial Government is also adjusting Trans Jatim operational schedules on Eid Day to align with public activities, particularly the morning Eid prayer service.

“On Eid Day, Trans Jatim will operate from 10:00 WIB to 21:00 WIB. However, on Eid Day +1, operations will return to normal, starting from 05:00 WIB until 21:00 WIB,” she said.

Furthermore, Khofifah noted that the policy also has strategic value in improving road safety during the Eid period. By encouraging the public to switch to public transport, the government hopes to reduce traffic density and accident risks on roads.

“With free Trans Jatim services, we hope the public will switch to public transport so that travel becomes safer, orderly, and more comfortable,” she stressed.

The programme, she continued, is part of the East Java Provincial Government’s effort to provide an inclusive, affordable, and sustainable transport system.

“Family visits become closer, travel becomes more economical. Convenient homecoming need not be expensive,” she said.

Khofifah also invited all residents to take advantage of the programme with family and friends, whilst supporting a culture of public transport use.

“Invite your family and friends to use the free Trans Jatim service. These two days should be utilised to the fullest,” said Khofifah.

“Using Trans Jatim during Eid is a small step towards major change towards a resilient, green, and sustainable East Java,” she concluded.
