East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa led a trade and investment mission between East Java and Riau Province at the Novotel Hotel in Pekanbaru on Wednesday. The event, attended by Riau Regional Secretary Syahrial Abdi, secured transaction commitments totalling Rp 1.066 trillion.

Governor Khofifah explained that this was the fifth trade mission organised by the East Java Provincial Government in 2026. She stated that each mission is directed at strengthening inter-regional partnerships through collaboration involving local governments, regional agencies, the business community, and various supporting institutions. This year’s figures represent a nearly threefold increase compared to the East Java-Riau Trade and Investment Mission on 5 March 2020 in Pekanbaru, which generated commitments of Rp 362.12 billion through 51 trade transactions.

“For 2026, this is the fifth trade mission. What we always build is the strengthening of inter-provincial partnerships. Therefore, we continue to carry the spirit of growing together, advancing together, developing together, and prospering together,” Khofifah said. She explained that the trade mission serves as a strategic instrument to match regional potential with needs, expand business networks, strengthen the national supply chain, and build mutually beneficial economic cooperation.

“This trade mission is not merely a forum for meetings between sellers and buyers. More than that, this activity is an effort to connect the potential and needs of the two regions, expand business networks, strengthen inter-regional supply chains, and build mutually beneficial economic cooperation,” she said. According to Khofifah, each region has complementary advantages, needs, and potential. Therefore, inter-regional trade is one of the important foundations for strengthening national economic integration.

“We want to connect regions that have commodities with regions that need supplies, shorten distribution chains, expand markets for superior products, and simultaneously strengthen the use of domestic products. This is the essence of the Trade Mission that we continue to build,” she stressed. The total transaction commitment of Rp 1.066 trillion consisted of sales from East Java amounting to Rp 704.88 billion and purchases from Riau Province totalling Rp 361.15 billion.

East Java’s superior commodities marketed included processed poultry and beef, milk, poultry meat, goats/sheep, DOC, cigarettes, rice, chillies, shallots, garlic, fish feed, shrimp feed, fry, fertiliser, Madura cattle seeds, green bean coffee, dori fillets, steel raw materials, sambal, kitchen spices, various seafood, vacuum frying machines, canned sardines, brown sugar, and bulk tea. Meanwhile, East Java obtained various strategic commodities from Riau Province, including vaname shrimp, coconut shell charcoal, jambul coconut, pulp, and dried sea cucumber fins.

Khofifah noted that this trade pattern demonstrates the complementary economic relationship between the two provinces. East Java supplies various food commodities and industrial products, while Riau serves as a supplier of several strategic raw materials needed by industries in East Java. “The demand for pulp in East Java is very high. Almost 99 per cent of East Java’s pulp needs are supplied from Riau Province. Therefore, in terms of trade, we are still experiencing a deficit with Riau. However, this condition actually shows the strong economic connectivity between the two provinces as well as the great opportunity to continue expanding increasingly balanced two-way trade,” she explained.

Furthermore, Khofifah announced that the ten largest transactions in the East Java-Riau Trade Mission came from various strategic sectors. The largest transaction was conducted by PT Kharim Mandiri Indonesia, Kediri City, with PT Unggas Riau Perkasa, Kampar Regency, valued at Rp 202.196 billion per year, covering the sale of processed poultry, processed beef, milk, poultry meat, DOC, and sheep. Next, PT Ayo Tani, Kediri Regency, with PT Riau Multi Trade, Pekanbaru, valued at Rp 108.5 billion per year for rice, shallots, chillies, brown sugar, and bulk tea commodities. Then PT Ayo Tani, Kediri Regency, with PT Riau Pangan Bertuah Pekanbaru, with a transaction value of Rp 101.4 billion. Followed by Pabrik Rokok Dian Mulyo, Trenggalek Regency, with Kholis Romli, Sukamara, valued at Rp 79.2 billion per year for cigarette sales.

Other major transactions included PT Suri Tani Pemuka, Sidoarjo Regency, with PT Anagi Mandiri Sejahtera, Kampar Regency, valued at Rp 71.11 billion per year for fish feed, shrimp feed, and fry. CV Satriya Abdi Buana, Surabaya, purchased 1,200 tonnes of jambul coconut from PT Korindo Komplit Karbon, Pekanbaru, valued at Rp 43.2 billion per year. Additionally, CV Riki Utama Mandiri/RUM Seafood conducted a two-way transaction with PT Anagi Mandiri Sejahtera, Bengkalis, involving the sale of dori fillets and purchase of vaname shrimp valued at Rp 32.825 billion per year. CV Sinar Jaya Sae, Gresik Regency, sold dolomite and NPK fertiliser to Kopontren Al-Amin, Pekanbaru, valued at Rp 24.27 billion per year. CV Satrya Abdi Buana purchased coconut shell charcoal from PT Salju Coco Mandiri, Tembilahan, valued at Rp 24 billion. And CV Jawara Ternak, Sumenep, sold Madura Cattle Seeds to the Pekanbaru Slaughterhouse valued at Rp 20.8 billion.

“The transactions that occurred show the increasingly strong economic relationship between East Java and Riau. The business matching forum not only matches market needs with the production potential of each region but also opens up investment opportunities and long-term business partnerships that are expected to further strengthen the national supply chain,” she asserted.
