Governor Iqbal Prohibits NTB Officials from Using Official Vehicles for Interstate Mudik Travel
The Government of Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) Province has prohibited officials from using official vehicles for Lebaran 2026 homecoming travel outside the region. Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal emphasised that official vehicles cannot be used for returning to hometowns outside the NTB territory, including destinations such as Bali, Java, or other regions.
“This prohibition is also in line with guidance from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), which prohibits the use of official vehicles outside the region. If travel remains within NTB, for example to Sumbawa Island, that is permissible since it is still within NTB,” said Iqbal on Monday, 17 March 2026.
Iqbal explained that the use of official vehicles to Sumbawa Island is not considered mudik (homecoming) since it remains within NTB Province territory.
“That is not counted as mudik. Unless they take the vehicle to Jakarta or Java and so on. If we remain in NTB, they are welcome to do so,” Iqbal stated.
According to Iqbal, as long as official vehicles are used within NTB territory, there are no binding restrictions. Official vehicles remain permitted provided they are not used for returning home outside the region.
“Most of our departmental heads already have their residences here anyway; they are all settled in Mataram,” he noted.
During the Eid al-Fitr holiday period, NTB Provincial Government will not implement work-from-home policies. Iqbal ensured that all basic government services will continue to operate as normal.
“Everything will continue to run as usual. Especially basic services,” Iqbal concluded.
