Governor Iqbal Invites Malaysian Investors to Put Capital into NTB

The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur facilitated a strategic business meeting entitled NTB Investment Economic Engagement. The agenda brought together the Provincial Government of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) with Malaysian business players, investors, and financial institutions, targeting the investment, tourism, and renewable energy sectors.

NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal showcased the green energy potential in Bumi Gora, ranging from solar and micro-hydro to abundant ocean current energy. Iqbal then invited investors from Malaysia to put capital into NTB.

“NTB’s future is very bright. Our economic growth is not only supported by the mining sector, but also tourism, agriculture, livestock, the creative economy, and renewable energy,” Iqbal said in a statement on Saturday (20/6/2026). “We invite Malaysian investors to grow together with NTB,” he added.

Iqbal also affirmed his commitment to realising a zero-cost scheme for prospective Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) from NTB so they are not trapped in debt. To that end, the NTB Provincial Government is building collaboration between Bank NTB Syariah and partner financial institutions in Malaysia so that departure financing is carried out transparently and safely.

Currently, Bank NTB Syariah has obtained official permission to distribute People’s Business Credit (KUR) for PMI. This is expected to break the chain of illegal financing.

“We want to ensure that PMI from NTB depart through a truly zero-cost scheme. There must no longer be burdensome costs,” Iqbal said.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia, Raden Dato Mohammad Iman Hascarya, praised NTB’s economic leap under the command of Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal. According to him, NTB has now transformed into a new growth centre in eastern Indonesia that does not rely solely on tourism.

“We are not only introducing NTB’s potential to you, ladies and gentlemen, but we are introducing the future of NTB, a province that is developing very rapidly and has a clear and sustainable development vision,” Raden Dato Mohammad Iman Hascarya said in Kuala Lumpur on Friday (19/6/2026).

The Indonesian Ambassador also outlined the initiative to establish NTB Capital, which will function as a professional bridge between the regional government and strategic investors, covering the development of the halal industry, Islamic economy, and green investment.
