Central Papua Governor Meki Nawipa has stressed that inclusive education serves as a symbol of educational progress in the region, while also representing a commitment to ensuring all children receive quality education without exception.

“For the Central Papua Provincial Government, inclusive education is no longer an option but an obligation that must be realised together by all stakeholders,” he stated during the 2026 National Education Day (Hardiknas) commemoration in Nabire on Saturday.

He noted that developing inclusive education aligns with the 2026 Hardiknas theme, “Strengthening Universal Participation to Achieve Quality Education for All”.

Education in Central Papua is not solely the responsibility of schools or the education department but a colossal effort involving all elements, from government, foundations, parents to the business world.

“Quality education for all also means quality education for our children with disabilities. Central Papua will not advance if we neglect the extraordinary potential behind their limitations,” he said.

To this end, the provincial government has set several strategic steps, including strengthening educational infrastructure through improvements to general school facilities and special needs schools (SLB), as well as encouraging regular schools to become disability-friendly.

Additionally, enhancing teacher competency is a priority through special training so that educators are more adaptive to students’ needs.

“We hope foundations continue to be strategic partners of the government in expanding access to education,” he said.

He also motivated children with special needs to remain confident and continue developing their potential.

“You are the pearls of Central Papua. Limitations are not barriers to achieving dreams as high as Puncak Cartenz,” he said.

He called on all societal elements to make the 2026 Hardiknas a turning point to strengthen empathy, inclusivity, and the spirit of mutual cooperation in building equitable education in Central Papua.

“Let us strengthen universal participation for quality education that reaches every child in Central Papua,” he said.
