Governor inaugurates Media Centre for PENAS XVII in Gorontalo
Gorontalo Governor Gusnar Ismail inaugurated the Media Centre for the 17th National Farmers and Fishermen’s Week (PENAS) at the David-Tony GORR area in Limboto, Gorontalo Regency, on Wednesday, establishing it as a centre for information services and reporting support for media personnel during the event. The inauguration took place after the Governor, along with the central committee, the National Contact for Farmers and Fishermen (KTNA), and district and provincial governments, inspected several key venues for PENAS XVII, including the opening and closing arenas as well as the technology showcase area. “This Media Centre is one of the important facilities to support the dissemination of information during PENAS XVII,” said Gusnar. On that occasion, the Governor stated that all main venues for PENAS XVII were ready for use. According to him, various preparations are being finalised ahead of the opening scheduled for 20 June 2026. He said the main arena, technology showcase location, exhibition area, and other supporting facilities have undergone a joint inspection process with the organising committee. “We declare that PENAS XVII in Limboto, Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province, is ready to be held,” he stated. KTNA Chairman M Yadi Sofyan Noor, who accompanied the inspection, noted that hosting PENAS XVII is a historic milestone for Gorontalo, as it is the first time the region has hosted the largest national farmers and fishermen event in Indonesia. By mid-June 2026, approximately 8,700 participants and contingents from various provinces had arrived in Gorontalo, with the number expected to continue increasing ahead of the opening. In addition to serving as the centre of media activities, the PENAS XVII Media Centre is also prepared as a facility for information coordination between the committee, participants, and journalists covering the series of events. The committee noted that preparation progress for PENAS XVII has reached around 90 to 95 per cent and is currently entering the final completion and site tidying stage. During PENAS XVII, participants will take part in various agendas such as the main dialogue, agricultural development exhibition, technology showcase, agricultural organisation meetings, cultural performances from all provinces, and visits to a number of tourist destinations in Gorontalo. The opening of PENAS XVII is scheduled for 20 June 2026, while the local government is still awaiting confirmation from the central government regarding the official who will open the event.
