Governor Gusnar Discusses Gorontalo Half Marathon with BKPM Secretary-General - Gorontalo News
Jakarta, Kominfotik – Governor Gusnar Ismail discussed the organisation of the Gorontalo Half Marathon (GHM) with the Secretary to the Ministry/Secretary-General of the Ministry of Investment and Hilirisasi/BKPM, Muhammad Rudy Salahuddin. The meeting took place in the meeting room on the third floor of the Ismail Saleh Building, Ministry of Investment and Hilirisasi/BKPM, on Saturday, 7 March 2026.
Gusnar conveyed the plan for staging the GHM this year. The Gorontalo Provincial Government directed that the organisation of the Gorontalo Half Marathon should no longer be funded by the regional government, but instead involve private sector partners.
“We hope the Ministry of Investment and Hilirisasi/BKPM can help facilitate private sector partners who can collaborate in organising the Gorontalo Half Marathon,” said Gusnar.
In response, Rudy Salahuddin regarded the GHM as having great potential to become a national-scale sports event in Gorontalo Province. He stated his readiness to assist in facilitating sponsorship support from private sector entities.
“Given the growing enthusiasm of participants, the GHM should be able to serve as a barometer for national events in Gorontalo Province,” Rudy said.
He also recommended that the local government prepare a range of tourism-support activities scheduled to coincide with the GHM. Thus, the event would not only be a sporting event but could also promote tourism and stimulate local economic activity.
In addition to discussing the GHM, Gusnar reported that the Gorontalo Provincial Government had signed a memorandum of understanding with ID FOOD in Jakarta on 5 March 2026. The cooperation is a continuation of the initiative to establish an integrated poultry industry zone in North Gorontalo Regency as part of the poultry industry downstream programme in Gorontalo Province.
The meeting also discussed opportunities for further cooperation that can be facilitated by the Ministry of Investment and Hilirisasi/BKPM. The cooperation includes the development of a sister-city programme, promotion of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and study support for Gorontalo students to Morocco.
Governor Gusnar attended with the Regional Secretary Sofian Ibrahim and the head of the Youth and Sports Department along with their staff. The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere, given that Rudy Salahuddin had also served as Acting Governor of Gorontalo.
