Governor gives Eid al-Fitr gift in the form of tax relief for Papua residents
Jayapura (ANTARA) - Papua Governor Mathius D Fakhiri has given an Eid al-Fitr 1447 H gift to the local community in the form of relief on motor vehicle tax (PKB), aimed at promoting taxpayer compliance while increasing regional revenue. “This policy serves as a stimulus for the community to promptly settle their tax obligations, whether active or overdue,” he stated in Jayapura on Monday. Mathius hopes that the public will take advantage of this gift. “We are providing a waiver of administrative penalties as well as a discount on the principal motor vehicle tax. For compliant taxpayers who pay before the due date, a 15 per cent discount is given as a form of appreciation,” he said. “We are also offering a 30 per cent discount for vehicles from outside the region undergoing transfer into Papua,” he added. He further explained that the programme for waiving fines and providing discounts for overdue payments and vehicle transfers will apply for three months, from 1 April to 30 June 2026. “We urge the public not to delay payments and to take advantage of the programme by visiting the SAMSAT office, service kiosks, or the Mobile SAMSAT before the deadline expires,” he said.
