Governor distributes 3,500 sembako packages to students on Kalimantan Tengah's 69th anniversary
Palangka Raya (ANTARA) - Governor of Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) Agustiar Sabran distributed as many as 3,500 sembako packages to students in Palangka Raya City in commemoration of the province’s 69th anniversary. ‘I want to ensure that all students’ needs are met, including education, health, and food, so that everyone can focus on studying, pursuing their dreams and success,’ he asserted during the event, on Wednesday. The Special 69th Anniversary Bazaar for students was held at the halaman Istana Isen Mulang, the Governor’s Official Residence of Central Kalimantan. There were 3,500 sembako packages distributed; each package consists of one five-kilogram sack of rice, one kilogram of granulated sugar and two litres of cooking oil. Each package is valued at Rp149,500 and in this bazaar receives a subsidy from the provincial government of Rp139,500, so the redemption price is only Rp10,000. But in this event Governor Agustiar took the initiative to pay the redemption price, so students can obtain the sembako package for free. ‘Keep the spirit of creating, achieving and serving, because the future of Kalimantan Tengah lies in the hands of the younger generation,’ he explained. Agustiar asked students to keep up their learning spirit. He also stressed that all students should avoid drugs and promiscuous behaviour, because those things can destroy the future of the younger generation and the nation. Meanwhile, Acting Regional Secretary of Central Kalimantan Linae Victoria Aden explained that the bazaar for students aims to enable students to meet their basic needs at affordable prices, promote price stability, ensure the availability of essential goods and control the rate of regional inflation.
