Governor: Construction of People's Schools in Pandeglang and Lebak to be Completed by May 2027
The Banten Provincial Government has announced that construction of new buildings for the Sekolah Rakyat programme located in Pandeglang and Lebak regencies is targeted for completion by 31 May 2027.
Banten Governor Andra Soni in Tangerang on Monday said that the construction of the two first-wave Sekolah Rakyat schools is confirmed to use a new building scheme carried out directly by the Ministry of Public Works.
“The development of this new educational infrastructure is funded directly through the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget,” he said.
The two new Sekolah Rakyat building locations are situated in Cadasari District, Pandeglang Regency, standing on 10 hectares of land, and one building in Pangarangan District, Lebak Regency.
Furthermore, to follow up on the directive of President Prabowo Subianto, he said, every regency and city must have at least one Sekolah Rakyat. The Banten Provincial Government is therefore currently proposing additional construction sites for the next phase.
“A number of areas have been included in the proposal list, including Tangerang City, Tangerang Regency (two sites proposed), and Pandeglang Regency (one additional new site),” said Governor Andra Soni.
The regional government, he continued, will continue to strengthen cross-authority coordination with existing regency and city governments to expand the education programme, which has now absorbed 60,500 students from free schools.
“God willing, with the same number. That means next year it may reach around 120 thousand. Our target and our hope is to eliminate the school dropout rate,” said Banten Governor Andra Soni.
