Palangka Raya (ANTARA) - The Governor of Central Kalimantan (Kalteng), Agustiar Sabran, has requested Pertamina to add a fuel terminal or depot in the province to maintain the stability of the fuel oil (BBM) supply on a sustainable basis.

“Kalteng has three zones: west, central, and east. The west zone already has two, namely in Sampit and Pangkalan Bun, the central zone has one in Pulang Pisau, and the east zone has none,” said the Central Kalimantan Governor in Palangka Raya on Sunday.

Pertamina’s Fuel Terminal is a facility for receiving, storing, and distributing fuel on a large scale, serving as the main transit point before distribution to public fuelling stations (SPBU) or other outlets.

The Central Kalimantan Governor assessed that at least one additional fuel terminal is needed, particularly in the east zone covering East Barito, South Barito, North Barito, and Murung Raya. The aim is to ensure that the flow and supply distribution of BBM is better maintained and stable on a sustainable basis.

The presence of only one fuel terminal unit in the central region and none in the east is considered not yet fully ideal.

“Through a meeting with the Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Kalimantan team, we have conveyed this proposal and hope it can be realised,” he stated.

Furthermore, Agustiar also reminded the public not to engage in panic buying of BBM, as the government’s and Pertamina’s efforts are currently running optimally, so it is hoped that long queues at SPBU will no longer occur.

The Executive General Manager of the Kalimantan Region at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Isfahani, explained that in Central Kalimantan, there are at least 75 regular SPBU, three depots or fuel terminals, eight SPBE, and others.

He said that his side continues to coordinate and synergise with local government and relevant stakeholders, including receiving various inputs or proposals so that, among other things, BBM distribution can be carried out properly.

“Pertamina measures the development of terminal facilities based on needs and reach. Because in the economy, an investment also needs to be accountable in terms of returns. However, the most important thing is certainly how to reach and ensure availability to all distributed areas,” he clarified.
