Governor blockade ends on Sulawesi
KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: Residents and students ended a six-day blockade of a road leading to the Southeast Sulawesi governor's office on Wednesday after local officials pledged to meet their demand for more paved roads.
The protesters pressured the Kendari administration to asphalt all streets in their subdistrict of Mokoau, Poasia district.
They group dispersed peacefully after they were told that the local government would pave the streets this year.
Senior Kendari official Yusuf Hamilu said his office had selected a contractor for the road development project in Mokoau. --Antara
