Kupang (ANTARA) - East Nusa Tenggara Governor Melki Laka Lena has assured that, during the emergency response period for the earthquake in Flores, the food and drink needs of victims have been met at all evacuation locations.

“All the aid coming in, from BNPB, from the regional and provincial governments, the TNI-Polri and related parties, as well as the relevant ministries and agencies, has been extraordinary for the earthquake victims in Flores,” he said in Kupang on Monday afternoon.

He made the remarks during a limited meeting on the development of disaster management with President Prabowo and several TNI-Polri leaders, as well as seven regional heads in Flores affected by the earthquake, held online.

Melki said that in addition to food support already distributed to all evacuation locations, the need for medical equipment has also been well met.

He said that for the three damaged hospitals, field hospitals have been built by the Ministry of Health, so health services are running well.

In addition, field community health centres (puskesmas) have also been built for three damaged puskesmas, so that health services can continue to be provided to those who are ill.

Previously, it was reported that President Prabowo Subianto led a limited meeting to monitor the development of the handling of several natural disasters in Indonesia via video conference from Jakarta on Monday.

In the limited meeting, besides hearing disaster reports from several regions in Indonesia, the President also asked for a report on the progress of post-earthquake handling in Flores.

He wants to ensure that the affected areas, particularly the regencies he has not yet visited, have received proper handling and can be recovered.
