Governor Andra Soni Secures Banten as Host Province for PON XXIII in 2032

The designation of Banten Province as host is set out in the Central KONI Decree No. 05/Musornaslub/2026 concerning the Determination of the Host Selection Results for PON XXIII in 2032. Banten Governor Andra Soni said that the designation of Banten Province as host for the PON is an honour, pride, and, of course, the people’s hope for Banten.”Moreover, the designation will have a positive impact on boosting the region’s competitiveness, including infrastructure development, economic growth, the expansion of the tourism sector, and the development of human resources and regional sporting achievement,” he said in a written statement on Thursday, 21 May 2026. He added that the designation would also inject positive energy and impact on increasing enthusiasm and support from the public for raising competitiveness and sporting achievements in Banten Province.”This includes enthusiasm for building synergy and collaboration between the Banten Provincial Government, Banten KONI, universities, business entities, or the industrial sector,” he said. In addition, to ensure the success of the PON, nine new venues will be constructed starting in 2027 in the Banten Sport Center Area. The development plan is fully outlined in the Banten RPJMD 2025-2029 and targeted for completion by 2030.”We have also prepared 44 venues for 28 sports that are planned to be contested in Banten Province,” he said. Meanwhile, the General Chairman of KONI Pusat, retired Lieutenant General Marciano Norman, who is also head of the Bid and Screening Team (TPP) for the PON XXIII host candidate, said that based on visits to dozens of venues in Banten, the majority are already highly suitable as venues for the PON XXIII in 2032.”There are indeed a few that require renovation and construction. But with the strong commitment of Banten Governor Andra Soni, all the venues will have been completed by 2030,” he said. Meanwhile, the Head of KONI Province Banten, Agus Rasyid, also expressed gratitude that Banten Province is finally designated as the host of PON XXIII in 2032. According to Agus, the designation marks a new chapter since Banten Province was formed.”This is the support of all parties, including from Governor Andra Soni who has been consistently pushing for Banten to become the host of PON XXIII,” he concluded.
