Governor: 1.3 Million Vehicles Enter Central Java During Eid Exodus
As is well known, Central Java is the hub of the homecoming exodus. Data shows an increase from last year,” he said in Semarang on Friday night.
He conveyed this during a monitoring of the Takbiran night and Eid homecoming traffic at the Integrated Post for Idul Fitri 1447 Hijri Celebration Services, Semarang.
The monitoring was conducted alongside Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ribut Hari Wibowo, Pangdam IV/Diponegoro Major General Achiruddin, Central Java Provincial Secretary Sumarno, and representatives from other regional leadership coordination forums.
During the monitoring, a video conference was also held with National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
He reported that the situation and conditions in Central Java are safe, including during Takbiran night, which is typically used by the public for roaming takbir and similar activities.
“We report to the National Police Chief that we are currently at Simpang Lima. Simpang Lima is not too crowded; roaming takbir activities are allowed as long as coordinated with authorities,” he said.
Based on preliminary monitoring data, the number of vehicles entering Central Java during the Eid homecoming as of 20 March 2026 is around 1,370,000 units, while vehicles exiting Central Java number around 750,000 units.
Regarding security and services for the Idul Fitri celebration, Central Java Province has held cross-sectoral coordination meetings, followed by meetings at the district/city level.
Various mitigations have been implemented, both related to traffic, road infrastructure and supporting signs, tourist sites, including disaster management.
“We hope that security and public order in our area is maintained. The same goes for the situation of essential commodity prices, where there is no scarcity in Central Java,” he said.
So far, there have been no notable incidents in Central Java during the Eid homecoming and Idul Fitri celebrations.
Security and services are provided by 11,800 combined personnel from TNI-Polri elements, Satpol PP, and related agencies including community organisations.
Meanwhile, Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ribut Hari Wibowo stated that 55 Takbiran night celebration sites welcoming the holiday in the region were monitored as safe and orderly.
“The Takbiran night monitoring is quite safe and orderly, despite light rain (in Semarang City),” he said.
