Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) Rini Widyantini has stated that the government has not yet determined the schedule for opening the 2026 civil servant candidate (CPNS) selection process.

Rini said her ministry is still drafting the CPNS position framework needed for this year. The framework covers the number of personnel resources as well as the competencies sought by each ministry and government agency. “As for the timing, we cannot determine that yet — the process is still very long,” she said when met at the Kemenpan-RB office in Jakarta on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.

According to Rini, her ministry has written to all ministries and government agencies requesting them to submit their position requirements and CPNS quotas for their respective institutions. In addition, Kemenpan-RB has been coordinating with the Ministry of Finance regarding budget availability. “So we cannot just suddenly announce the opening of CPNS 2026,” she said.

Nevertheless, Rini said the government is endeavouring to open the 2026 CPNS selection. She estimated that the need for new personnel this year reaches 160,000 people, in line with the number of civil servants who retired in 2025.

However, she noted that the quota to be opened may not necessarily match that figure. Rini said everything depends on budget availability. “We need 160,000 but if, for example, only 30,000 are approved, then of course we need to think about how to fill the remaining 120,000,” she said.
