Government Will Not Intervene in Legal Process of Former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah, Says Hasan Nasbi

Special Adviser to the President for Communications, Hasan Nasbi, has asserted that the government will not intervene in the legal process concerning former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. He made the statement in response to questions about why Adriansyah has not yet been detained despite being named a suspect. “The government is not intervening in this matter of law enforcement,” Hasan Nasbi told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Monday.

The Attorney General’s Office has confirmed that the legal status of Febrie Adriansyah remains unchanged after the issuance of three new investigation warrants related to corruption and money laundering cases. Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, stated that the new warrants still name Adriansyah and private sector party Don Ritto as suspects. This determination refers to the results of an earlier investigation conducted by the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps.

Anang explained that the issuance of warrants number 43, 44, and 45, which relate to alleged corruption in coal governance, PT Asabri, and debt settlement at a subsidiary of PT Krakatau Steel, does not nullify the suspect status previously established by police investigators. “Thus, it does not invalidate it. We still accept their legal status, but we issued the warrants while waiting to determine the next steps and complete the requirements. The point is, it does not nullify their suspect status,” he said.
