Government Urged to Strengthen Subsidised Electric Stove Programme
The electric stove programme needs to be promoted again because it is highly relevant to the current situation. This will significantly impact the state’s fiscal capacity in managing energy subsidy policies.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Ridwan Hanafi, Executive Director of Daulat Energi, urged the government to strengthen the implementation of the subsidised electric stove programme as part of a strategy to enhance national energy resilience.
“The electric stove programme needs to be promoted again because it is highly relevant to the current situation. This will significantly impact the state’s fiscal capacity in managing energy subsidy policies,” he said in Jakarta on Friday.
According to him, developing electric stoves is a strategic step amid increasing global energy sector pressures, particularly due to geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East that could potentially drive up global energy prices.
Diversifying energy through electricity use in the household sector, he continued, can help improve national energy resilience while reducing dependence on imports, especially LPG.
With good understanding and adequate infrastructure support, he added, electric stoves are considered a more efficient and sustainable household energy solution.
“Strengthening implementation and comprehensive socialisation will make this programme more targeted and provide optimal benefits for both the public and the state finances,” he said.
Previously, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia assured that energy supplies to even the remotest areas of the country remain safe amid global geopolitical dynamics.
“The availability of fuel oil, LPG, and electricity in Indonesia is all still under control and safe, in accordance with our national minimum stock standards. Regarding LPG, we will also have incoming supplies at the end of this month,” he said in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (24/3).
