Government Urged to Stop Exporting Raw Materials
TEMPO Interactive, Semarang: Indonesian Businessmen Association (API) chairman, Sofyan Wanandi, called on the government to immediately stop exporting raw materials and, instead, let local companies produce these materials so they can contribute positively to the national economic development.
“We always sell raw materials. When they become goods, they are sold back to us. That is funny,” Sofyan said in a national seminar on “Entrepreneurship at Universities in Encouraging the Development of National Industries” at the Diponegoro University yesterday.
This nation has abundant natural resources, like oil, LPG, and coal, but other countries process them. This must change, Sofyan said.
