Member of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from the Golkar faction, Jamaludin Malik, expressed his support for the government’s steps through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to safeguard the stability of the national energy supply and prices amid evolving global geopolitics. He noted the government’s efforts to ensure national energy availability are commendable, particularly given that current fuel stock (BBM) levels are around three weeks, indicating the national energy supply system remains safeguarded.

Jamaludin also welcomed the government policy that ensures subsidised fuel prices stay stable ahead of Ramadan and Idul Fitri. He said the move is important to maintain people’s purchasing power and ensure economic activity runs smoothly during a period of rising household energy needs.

“We in Commission XII of DPR RI support the government’s steps via the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in maintaining the stability of supply and energy prices. Anticipatory measures like this are important so that the public remains calm amid developing global geopolitics,” Jamaludin said in a written statement received on Thursday (5/3).

Nevertheless, he argued that strengthening national energy resilience should remain a shared concern, including by increasing the capacity of national energy reserves. The aim is to give Indonesia greater room to anticipate potential disruptions to global energy supply.

According to him, developing energy storage infrastructure would be a strategic move to reinforce the national energy reserve system in the medium and long term.

He hopes coordination between the government, energy state-owned enterprises, and all stakeholders can be strengthened so that the national energy supply system becomes more robust and able to face future global dynamics.

Tauhid positively assessed Pertamina’s various supply plans, ranging from refinery production to energy imports. Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia disclosed that national fuel reserves are above the standard. President Prabowo instructed the construction of new storage facilities in Sumatra to bolster energy.

Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the government plans to increase the capacity of fuel storage (BBM) from around 25-26 days to 90 days, or roughly three months.

PT Pertamina (Persero) said it is fully prepared to support Indonesians in the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H celebrations.
