Government to Soon Establish Task Force for Indonesia Financial Center
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Head of the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Danantara, Rosan P. Roeslani, revealed that the government, under the coordination of Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, will establish an authority body and task force for the formation of the Indonesia Financial Center or Special Economic Zone for the Financial Sector, which is planned to be built in Bali.
Rosan received this information directly from Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto. He assured that the formation of the Task Force and the Indonesia Financial Center (IFC) authority body will be carried out in the near future.
“This was just conveyed by the Coordinating Minister that it will be formed as soon as possible,” said Rosan when met at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy office on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
Regarding the umbrella legal regulations for the establishment of the IFC, Rosan stated that this will be reviewed by the task force team that will be formed by Coordinating Minister Airlangga.
Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto acknowledged the plan to build the IFC and sees an opportunity for developing a financial centre in Bali.
“Yes, of course, we see there is an opportunity for a financial centre. We are also preparing for it. With the geopolitical changes, Bali becomes attractive,” said Airlangga when met at his office, quoted on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
Regarding the plan, Airlangga stated that the government is preparing the regulations. He revealed that the government is also reviewing what regulations can accommodate the establishment of a financial centre.
“And also how far those regulations can accommodate what is requested for the establishment of a financial centre or family office. A financial centre is entirely managed by, in quotes, non-government,” he explained.
However, Airlangga also opened the option for the financial centre to be managed by BPI Danantara. “But if Danantara manages it, that’s fine too,” he stated.
