Government to Receive 12 Per Cent Freeport Stake Free of Charge, Ready to Share Exploration Costs

JAKARTA — The government has confirmed it will obtain an additional 12 per cent stake in PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) without acquisition costs under the scheme to extend the company’s operating licence beyond 2041.

However, in the process of securing the shares, the government indicated its readiness to share exploration costs as part of the arrangement.
