The Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment will hold the Global Talent Day and Kebumen Job Fair & PMI Expo 2026 from 24 to 26 June 2026 at the Pendopo Kabumian and Setda Hall in Kebumen Regency. The three-day event is designed to prepare Indonesian talent, prospective migrant workers, and vocational students with the skills, competitiveness, and protection needed to enter the global job market through official channels.

Deputy for Coordination of Community Economic Empowerment and Migrant Worker Protection, Leontinus Alpha Edison, stated that the initiative is part of the state’s responsibility to ensure citizens have access to decent and safe work opportunities abroad. “We are not just sending people. We are preparing them to go with skills and protection, so they do not need to worry. The opportunities are significant, and our task as state administrators is to ensure the pathways are official and safe,” he said.

He noted that many overseas job opportunities remain untapped, while non-procedural placement of migrant workers persists. Therefore, education on safe migration and access to official channels is crucial. “We hope that what we do in Kebumen can be replicated by other regional governments, thereby reducing the number of migrant workers deceived by non-procedural and illegal routes,” he added.

During the event, participants will receive training through workshops with speakers from the Ministry for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, representatives of destination country embassies, the International Organization for Migration, and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. Participants can also join open trial classes for Japanese, Korean, and German languages to prepare for the international job market.

The programme includes job canvassing and matchmaking sessions connecting prospective migrant workers with Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Companies (P3MI), job training institutions, and competency testing centres. The activities also support the SMK Go Global programme, which aims to prepare vocational school graduates to compete in the international job market.

Kebumen was chosen as the location because it is a strategic source of migrant workers in Central Java. According to statistics from the Migrant Worker Placement Service, Central Java has 1,229,258 Indonesian migrant workers, with 46,751 originating from Kebumen Regency.

Kebumen Regent Lilis Nuryani welcomed the event, stating it would bring information, job opportunities, and protection closer to the community. “Many residents of Kebumen and Central Java work abroad, and we want to ensure they go safely, with skills and protection. We welcome this event being held directly in Kebumen, bringing opportunities and protection closer to the people. The Kebumen Regency Government is ready to collaborate so that the benefits are truly felt by residents,” she said.

Through the Global Talent Day and Kebumen Job Fair & PMI Expo 2026, the government hopes that more Indonesian talent will be able to seize international job opportunities legally, safely, and competitively, while strengthening the quality of the nation’s human resources in the global market.
