Government to expand digital social protection trials to 42 regencies and cities
The government will expand the trial implementation of the digitalised social protection system to 42 regencies and cities across Indonesia, starting in June 2026. Mira Tayyiba, Director General of Digital Government Technology at the Ministry of Communication and Digital, stated that the initial trial phase was previously conducted in Banyuwangi, East Java, in September 2025.
“Starting this June, we will roll out the social protection digitalisation trial in 4<0xA0>42 regencies and cities. This scale is 42 times larger than the Banyuwangi pilot,” Mira said during a media discussion in Central Jakarta on Monday.
Under the implementation, citizens can access the portal perlinsos.kemensos.go.id to register themselves. During the previous trial, 350,000 citizens were recorded as having registered, with a focus on assistance through the Family Hope Program (PKH) and Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT). The next phase of the trial is expected to target more than 36 million residents, or approximately 1.1 million heads of households.
Mira explained that the government is also preparing various supporting aspects to ensure the optimal implementation of the digital social protection trial, including the readiness of the Government Service Connection System (SPLP) and internet access in the trial areas. “Our challenge is not only data exchange but also internet infrastructure, as everything is being digitalised. It is possible that among the 42 cities, some have good infrastructure while others do not,” she noted.
Officials highlighted that some beneficiaries have experienced difficulties accessing social assistance due to administrative and population data issues. The integration of data through digitalisation is expected to minimise these obstacles, as identity documents such as National ID cards (KTP) and family cards will be linked within a single platform.
