Government to Distribute Second Phase of Rice Aid to 33.24 Million Beneficiary Families Starting August

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) has confirmed that the government will begin distributing the second phase of its rice food aid programme to 33.24 million beneficiary families (KPM) across Indonesia starting in August. The aid, covering the allocation for July through September, will be delivered by the State Logistics Agency (Perum Bulog).

Bapanas Head Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that the distribution is part of the government’s effort to maintain public purchasing power and strengthen food security during the dry season. The total volume of rice allocated for this phase is 997.2 thousand tonnes.

In addition to the direct food aid, the government is continuing its programme to stabilise rice supply and prices (SPHP). Amran noted that the government’s rice reserve, managed by Perum Bulog, stood at 5.24 million tonnes as of 22 July 2026.

This stock reinforcement and distribution have contributed to stabilising rice prices. Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) indicates that year-on-year rice inflation eased to 3.98 per cent in June 2026, down from 4.55 per cent in May.
