Government to Build Red and White Village Cooperatives at 35,408 Locations Across Indonesia
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, alias Zulhas, explained that the construction of Red and White Village/Urban Ward Cooperatives (KDMP) targets 35,408 locations across Indonesia. Of these 35,408 sites, 25,625 locations are in the construction phase, and only 5,714 Red and White Village Cooperatives have been completed. He acknowledged that land readiness for the cooperative constructions varies. “We are continuing to survey the other lands. They will be adjusted in the subsequent periods. Because in cities, land is expensive, and some regional or institutional lands do not meet standards; we will resolve that,” Zulhas explained, quoted from Kontan on Monday (20/4/2026). For the operation of the tens of thousands of cooperatives, an equivalent workforce is needed. There are 35,476 job vacancies, consisting of 30,000 openings for Red and White Cooperative manager positions, which will be under PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara. The remaining 5,476 are for cooperative employees. “So, a total of 383,830 have registered, and we state that the registration is open, transparent, honest, and no one is guaranteed acceptance; it’s open as it is,” Zulhas said. Although the salary amount for Red and White Cooperative managers is still under discussion, the scheme follows the Fixed-Term Employment Agreement (PKWT). The government is still considering and refining the salary payment scheme for accepted applicants who become cooperative managers. In addition, the registration and selection process is ongoing, and the government has time to finalise the salary scheme until June 2026. “The announcement of those accepted is planned for June,” Tedi revealed.
