The government will build 800 homes in central Jakarta. The construction sites are located in the Pasar Senen and Tanah Abang areas.

The homes will be built on land owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) and PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia.

This plan was announced by the Minister of People’s Housing and Settlement Areas, Maruarar Sirait, alongside the Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Body, Dony Oskaria.

They conveyed this following a meeting at the SOE Regulatory Body office in Jakarta on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

“There will be 300 units in Senen and 500 units in Tanah Abang,” he stated after the meeting.

The construction is targeted to be completed by 15 June 2026. The government is also involving the private sector in this project.

The scheme utilises corporate social responsibility funds.

“We are also building collaboration between KAI and the private sector, in the context that the land remains owned by KAI, but the construction will be funded by CSR from the private sector,” he said.

Dony Oskaria stated that state-owned enterprises are ready to optimise their assets to support government programmes. The focus is on developing vertical housing in urban areas.

“We have identified land from Angkasa Pura and KAI that we will develop for all our people, and of course, there are many more lands that we are looking at,” he said.

State-owned enterprises are also mapping their assets to support accelerated development.

“We are currently mapping all our assets, especially in cities where housing development is urgently needed as quickly as possible,” Dony added.
