Jakarta, (ANTARA) - The government will build 140,000 vertical housing units on 30 hectares of land donated by Lippo Group founder James Riady in Cikarang, West Java. The development on the three parcels of land handed over by James Riady is part of the government’s effort to realise the 3 Million Homes Programme. ‘Private sector, in this case Lippo Group, has donated land covering a vast 30 hectares to the government, to the state, to build and hand over to the people who do not have a home,’ said Special Presidential Envoy and Chairperson of the Housing Task Force Hashim Djojohadikusumo during a site visit in Cikarang, West Java, on Sunday. Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait added that vertical housing development is one solution to address limited urban land for housing and the housing backlog. Meanwhile, Rosan Roeslani, CEO of Danantara Indonesia, said this development is part of a joint effort to ensure housing development for low-income people can be planned and sustainable. In line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive, Rosan continued, providing decent and affordable housing for low-income households is a top priority in national development. ‘Through collaboration between the government, Danantara Indonesia, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector, we want to ensure that the housing development for this area can be designed comprehensively, from construction concept and pricing mechanisms to ownership schemes by the community, so that it truly provides decent and affordable housing access for low-income households,’ Rosan said.
