Jakarta - The government will soon provide an economic stimulus package for the public for the third quarter of 2026. The stimulus package will be officially announced by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto today, Monday (22/6/2026). The announcement will take place at 15:30 WIB at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs building in Jakarta. During the press conference, Airlangga is scheduled to be accompanied by Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Cabinet Secretary, and Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.

Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso previously stated that several incentives would be announced, including fiscal incentives, food assistance, and transport discounts. The fiscal and food incentives are specifically required to maintain public purchasing power. "The usual ones concern fiscal incentives. Food assistance is certainly included. This is to strengthen demand from the demand side. From the supply side, there are several Government-borne VAT (PPN DTP) measures," he said.

Meanwhile, transport discounts will be provided to coincide with the end-of-semester school holidays. "Because the holiday period has started, from the supply side we have also requested price reductions for transport discounts. As usual, the Coordinating Minister will announce it later," said Susiwijono.

The Ministry of Transportation had previously announced a transport fare discount policy for the 2026 school holiday period. This includes a 30% discount for all commercial economy-class train services from 20 June to 5 July 2026, a 30% discount for all economy-class passenger sea vessel routes from 20 June to 15 August 2026, a 100% discount on port service fees for foot passengers and certain vehicle categories at 14 ports on 7 ferry crossing routes from 20 June to 5 July 2026, and a 100% Government-borne VAT (PPN DTP) discount for scheduled economy-class aircraft from 24 June to 5 July 2026. The ferry crossing routes receiving fare discounts include Merak-Bakauheni, Ketapang-Gilimanuk, Lembar-Padangbai, Kayangan-Pototano, Tanjung Uban-Telaga Punggur, Ajibata-Ambarita, and Sape-Labuan Bajo.

This is stipulated in a Joint Decree by the Minister of Transportation, Minister of Finance, and Head of the State-Owned Enterprise Regulatory Body concerning the Assignment to State-Owned Enterprises in the Transport Sector to Provide Transport Fare Discounts for the Economic Stimulus during the 2026 School Holiday, 2026 Christmas, and 2027 New Year periods. Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi stated that this policy represents the government’s presence in providing convenience for the public to travel at more affordable costs, hoping the incentive can be optimally utilised while positively impacting the transport, tourism, and national economy sectors.

The government also plans to launch the fourth batch of the national internship programme, MagangHub, in July 2026. The MagangHub programme is an official internship platform intended for university graduates who have completed their education within the last year. Through this programme, participants will be placed in various companies and industries cooperating with the Ministry of Manpower. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the programme will commence in July 2026 with a target of 150,000 participants and a stimulus budget of Rp 4.14 trillion for the second half of 2026.
