“It will be announced (the WFH policy) before the end of the month (March),” Hartarto said here on Friday.

The policy was planned as a measure to curb fuel consumption amid pressure from global energy prices.

Earlier, he explained that the WFH scheme is planned to apply one day per week for state civil apparatus (ASN), including civil servants and government employees with work agreements (PPPK). Meanwhile, for the private sector, the policy will be in the form of advisories.

However, the government has yet to set a definite date for the policy announcement.

“Approximately this week,” he said.

The government has decided to implement a one-day-per-week WFH policy, namely every Friday. This step is being prepared in response to rising global oil prices triggered by tensions in the Middle East.

On the other hand, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the decision regarding the WFH policy has been finalized and will soon be announced by the government.

“It has been decided, it will be announced later, not by me, but the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs (Airlangga Hartarto),” Sadewa said.

Sadewa assessed that the impact of the WFH policy should not only be seen from the perspective of energy savings, but also from its encouragement of economic activity.

“Because economic activities will increase, business will grow rapidly, consumption will rise. However, if the tax revenue also increases, in line with that, then there will be benefits,” he remarked.
