Government to Accelerate 2027 Procurement by Front-Loading Budget Year
The Head of the National Public Procurement Agency (LKPP), Sarah Sadiqa, stated that the government is accelerating procurement for 2027 by processing tenders ahead of the budget year. “The execution of the 2027 state budget (APBN) fiscal year will be carried out through a procurement process that precedes the budget year,” Sarah said during a press conference on the Financial Note and the 2027 Draft State Budget in Jakarta on Friday. Consequently, Sarah hopes that by the end of 2026, the government can conduct the procurement process with contracts to be signed in January 2027, once the budget can be executed. This strategy is believed to prevent slowdowns in the procurement process. “Hopefully, with methods like these, we will also achieve an acceleration of the procurement process,” Sarah added. President Prabowo Subianto revealed his plan to strengthen the LKPP by transforming it into a Government Procurement Agency to consolidate the procurement of goods and services across all ministries, agencies, and regional governments. The plan was announced during the President’s speech at the Plenary Session opening the 2026-2027 Session Period of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta. In the same speech, the President explained his rationale for consolidating government procurement. He noted that procurement by ministries, agencies, and regional governments is often non-standardised, meaning the same items can be purchased at different prices. Going forward, the President emphasised that procurement needs will be aggregated, and specifications will follow centrally established standards. For the President, every rupiah saved represents additional fiscal space that can be used for the people’s benefit, including renovating school classrooms and building or improving community health centres and hospitals.
