Jakarta — The Ministry of Tourism aims to attract tourism investment of up to Rp63.5 trillion in 2026, in line with the National Medium-Term Development Plan for 2025–2029.

During the 2026 National Coordination Meeting on Tourism held in Jakarta on Wednesday, Rizki Handayani Mustafa, Acting Deputy for Industry and Investment at the Ministry of Tourism, said that tourism investment would be focused on three regenerative destinations and ten priority destinations.

‘From a target of 65 percent to be achieved across 13 destinations, 70 percent is in regenerative destinations. That means the other Priority Tourism Destinations (DPP) are still very small,’ Rizki said.

The Priority Tourism Destinations (DPP) include Lake Toba (North Sumatra), Borobudur (Central Java), Mandalika (West Nusa Tenggara), Labuan Bajo (East Nusa Tenggara), Likupang (North Sulawesi), Tanjung Kelayang (Bangka Belitung Islands), Bromo-Tengger-Semeru (East Java), Wakatobi (Southeast Sulawesi), Morotai (North Maluku), and Raja Ampat (West Papua).

Meanwhile regenerative destinations include the Bali area, the Greater Jakarta Area, and the Riau Islands.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, in 2025 investment in tourism remained concentrated in Bali, Jakarta, and the Riau Islands.

The Ministry is promoting stronger synergy to boost investment in Priority Tourism Destinations and in regions with potential for developing tourism businesses.

‘The Tourism Minister has asked us to create a forum where regions with projects can be matched with potential investors,’ Rizki said.

Rizki added that regional governments need to prepare tourism investment projects thoroughly so they are viable to offer and attractive to investors.

Additionally, regional governments need to improve supporting infrastructure, connectivity, and diversify tourism products and services.

Creating a conducive investment climate through regulatory simplification and legal certainty is also crucial in attracting investment to the regions.

Rizki also stressed the need to understand global tourist preferences to prepare service products in the regions.

‘There are growing market trends in the industry that will shape tourism products. So how to form tourism products, linking regional potential with these trends,’ he said.

Deputy for Marketing Ni Made Ayu Marthini of the Ministry of Tourism invited the government and industry to collaborate and to maximise digital promotion of tourism services.
