Government targets Rp63.5 trillion in tourism investment in 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Ministry of Tourism aims to channel tourism investment of up to Rp63.5 trillion in 2026, in line with the National Medium-Term Development Plan for 2025–2029.
In the 2026 National Coordination Meeting on Tourism held in Jakarta on Wednesday, Rizki Handayani Mustafa, Acting Deputy for Industry and Investment at the Ministry of Tourism, said that tourism investment would be focused on three regenerative destinations and ten priority destinations.
‘DFrom the target of 65 percent to be met across 13 destinations, 70 percent is in regenerative destinations. That means the other DPPs are still very small,’ Rizki said.
The priority tourism destinations (DPP) include Danau Toba (North Sumatra), Borobudur (Central Java), Mandalika (West Nusa Tenggara), Labuan Bajo (East Nusa Tenggara), Likupang (North Sulawesi), Tanjung Kelayang (Bangka Belitung), Bromo-Tengger-Semeru (East Java), Wakatobi (Southeast Sulawesi), Morotai (North Maluku), and Raja Ampat (West Papua).
Meanwhile regenerative tourism destinations include Bali, Greater Jakarta, and the Riau Islands.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, during 2025 tourism investment remained concentrated in Bali, Jakarta, and the Riau Islands.
‘The Minister of Tourism has asked us to establish a forum where regions with projects can be brought together with prospective investors,’ Rizki said.
Rizki stated that local governments need to prepare tourism investment projects thoroughly so that they are ripe for offer and attractive to investors.
In addition, local governments need to enhance supporting infrastructure, connectivity, and diversification of tourism products and services.
Creating a conducive investment climate through regulatory simplification and legal certainty is also crucial in efforts to attract investors to the regions.
Rizki also highlighted the need to understand global tourist preferences to prepare tourism service products in the regions.
‘There are trends developing in the market that will flow into tourism products. So how to shape tourism products, linking the potentials in the regions with those trends,’ he said.
Meanwhile, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, urged the government and industry players to boost promotion of tourism services on digital platforms.
‘We want to invite local governments, associations, and industry to collaborate. It is important for us to maximise digital promotion,’ she said.
