Government Targets Rp13,032 Trillion Investment by 2029
The government has set an investment realisation target of approximately Rp13,032 trillion for the 2025–2029 period. The target is intended to support efforts to achieve national economic growth of 8 percent by 2029.
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani said the investment target for 2027 has been set at Rp2,322 trillion. That figure is higher than the 2026 investment target of Rp2,041 trillion.
“The investment target in 2027 is Rp2,322 trillion, up from this year’s target (2026) of Rp2,041 trillion,” Rosan said at a press conference on the Financial Note and 2027 State Budget Draft in Jakarta recently.
Rosan explained that the Rp13,032 trillion target is the accumulated investment expected to enter during the 2025–2029 period.
Compared with investment realisation over the past 10 years, the current government’s five-year target has increased by around 43 percent. During the 2014–2024 period, total incoming investment was recorded at around Rp9,117 trillion.
The government has positioned investment as one of the main engines for driving economic growth while creating quality jobs.
The target is also linked to the government’s ambition of achieving 8 percent economic growth in 2029. The government previously cited the Rp13,032 trillion investment requirement as one of the foundations for pursuing that growth target.
The 2027 investment target of Rp2,322 trillion shows an increase compared with the 2026 target. The government hopes the rise in investment can support economic activity across various sectors.
Investment policy is also directed at strengthening downstreaming, increasing the added value of natural resources, expanding industry, and encouraging job creation.
With the larger investment target, the government needs to ensure the investment climate remains competitive. Legal certainty, ease of licensing, infrastructure availability and the quality of human resources are among the important factors for attracting investors.
The government has previously stressed that investment is not only aimed at pursuing capital investment figures, but is also expected to have an impact on the economy and public welfare.
The Rp13,032 trillion investment target by 2029 presents a particular challenge because its value is far greater than the investment achieved over the previous decade.
Rosan said the increase in the target provides an illustration of the scale of investment Indonesia needs to achieve the economic growth target set by the government.
The government will also continue its strategy of attracting investment while strengthening productive sectors. In this way, incoming investment is expected not merely to add capital, but also to expand production capacity and open up employment opportunities.
