Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti stated that the government is targeting the revitalisation of more than 80,000 educational units across the country throughout 2025-2026. Initially, the government targeted the revitalisation of 11,744 educational units with a budget of Rp14 trillion. An additional 60,000 units were then added, bringing the total revitalisation target to 71,744 schools this year. “In 2025 there were 16,167 schools, then this year there is an addition of 71,744 schools which are the target of the revitalisation programme throughout 2026,” he said after inaugurating the international class programme at SD Aisyiyah Multilingual Darussalam Kudus in Getassrabi Village, Gebog District, Kudus Regency, on Saturday, 13 June 2026. He noted that budget disbursement has already reached 70 per cent, meaning some projects are already under construction, with several expected to be inaugurated in the coming months. “Meanwhile, the additional 60,000 educational units can commence in August or September 2026,” he added. The revitalisation programme covers the renovation of school buildings, from kindergarten to senior high school level. The 71,744 educational units targeted this year include those in Kudus Regency. “However, the number of schools in Kudus targeted by the revitalisation programme must be verified first because the data is constantly changing, as there will be further additions,” he said. He revealed that many schools still require rehabilitation and revitalisation. “The President has stated on various occasions that hopefully by the end of 2028 all damaged schools can be rehabilitated,” he concluded.
