Government targets moving the state capital in line with progress on the new capital city (IKN)
Relocation of the capital will be carried out in a measured manner, following progress in development and readiness of services in the IKN, Penajam Paser Utara Regency (ANTARA) – The government targets relocating Indonesia’s state capital from Jakarta to IKN in parts of Penajam Paser Utara Regency and in the East Kalimantan provincial area, in line with progress in development and readiness of services in the IKN.
“Relocation of the capital will be carried out in a measured manner, following progress in development and readiness of services in the IKN,” said Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Djamari Chaniago when inspecting the IKN, on Wednesday, in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara.
The relocation can be carried out in stages for ministries whose infrastructure is ready; if facilities are partially available, some ministry staff can start office work at the IKN.
The inspection was conducted to ensure the readiness of the new Indonesian capital area as the new centre of government, including support for basic infrastructure and public facilities needed by state apparatus.
“The essential government facilities were examined, especially readiness of major infrastructure and supporting facilities that will underpin government activities in the IKN,” he explained.
“The progress of infrastructure in the IKN area shows advancement and readiness to be used to support government activities,” he added.
Infrastructure readiness and facilities of the IKN to welcome the activities of the state apparatus to become the new centre of government of Indonesia, must be considered and ensured properly.
A number of ministries are currently preparing staged staff relocations, adjusting the readiness of buildings and supporting services in the new Indonesian capital.
Housing facilities, hospitals, schools up to markets in the area of the new Indonesian capital, said Djamari Chaniago, become important capital to support relocation to the IKN.
